I was driving home when the headlight main beam packed in. I was towing a trailer at the time.

The sidelights work and the full beam works both ways, but the main one won't. I've tried by-passing the switch and that made no difference. The connections behind the headlamps look ok.

Has anyone had this problem before? Any help would be appreciated before I start looking for the relay.

Cheers.

are you talking about dip or high beam as the terms you are using dont make it clear . Most likely its your column dip switch esp if they work on flash ie when you pull the column switch towards the wheel not a rare prob esp if higher wattage headlamp bulbs fitted HTSH:)

The main beam (on dip) doesn't work. I've got sidelights (1st position on the switch) with a weak dipped light. 2nd position on the switch, what should be dipped, gives me sidelights only. I have high beam as normal in the 2nd position and it works to flash when pulled back.
The problem is the dip beam.

the relay has probably failed, they do.

Its either on the back of the fuse box, or deep in the dashboard.

When I was driving to work tuesday morning in heavy rain lights went off apart from side lights or full beam. I carried on with full beam as they are not exactly a burning white lazer beam. They started to work again this morning and seem fine now. What do you think is the problem the switch?
