Have an issue with my headlights and sidelights flickering quickly when the engine is running, more noticeable on idle than under load. They are fine when the engines off.

I suspect it maybe the alternator on the way out as it's a britpart one, but I recently had my fuel pin changed and engine timing advanced so wondered if that could have something to do with it?

It's a 1991 200tdi, thanks guys!

FIP timing and New boost pin shouldn't make a difference unless they disturbed the wiring to the alternator (which runs along the FIP side of the engine).

Check the wiring connections to the alternator are secure, and also, the wiring at the headlamps and sidelights, engine vibrations could be causing a loose connection to vibrate and make intermittent contact.

It is unlikely to be and engine issue, but much much more likely an alternator loose connection or loose wiring connection the headlamp/sidelight end.

Check your voltage at the battery with engine running and engine stopped, and also check your earths

I will give them a go this weekend. Have to fit a bonnet release cable now too as it snapped off
