While waiting for my new td5 engine to arrive I decided to upgrade the headlamps. At least it gave me some time to play with my Disco. Plus I learnt how to post photos.

Makes a difference, she'll melt tarmac at 500 metres now. God help anybody who flashes their headlamps at me!

Hi Jeff_blade,
It wasn't that hard really, biggest thing was getting the nerve to attack the Disco with the grinder.
All you need are a pair of new headlamps, relays and the lower headlamp finishers, plus make up a couple of brackets. All available on eBay, except for the brackets.
I purchased a "how to" DVD from Gary Wood at Td5 Alive which explains how to do it so clearly and easily, includes step by step photos that can be "supersized". Really makes you feel so much more confident about tackling the job. Includes instructions for wiring them up, upgradeing the tail lamps, changing the front bumper and fitting the later grille if you want to go all the way.
He also carries the headlamp connectors and wiring loom. Makes connecting up the headlamps so much easier than trying to solder the wires individually onto the headlamps. They are also a lot cheaper from him than what some people have been selling them on ebay for.
By following his wiring instructions with the relays, on high beam both high and lowbeam lamps now operate together. Giving a far superior highbeam spread than the normal factory setting of just the highbeam lamp operating.
Cheers
John
