I'm new to owning a range rover, Ive always had diesels so I bought a 2005 range rover hse for a spare vehicle and a play toy. Recently I took it to a local park where alot of jeeps go the first 3 days it performed great I was very impressed with the lockers and features, it has been converted to a full coil over suspension with the air ride removed. the last night I was out there I was going up a steep rocky hill it made it up great got to the top and the hdc inactive light came on and will not go off no air warning lights come on just hdc Ive also checked the battery voltage and its at 14.1 constant. Ive done a hard reset by connecting the positive and negative terminals together letting it sit for about 15-20 min, also done the steering wheel lock left to right, then last going the the no.1 etc tests and resetting it threw there. it will not clear out even for a second. Ive read the codes and right now it dosent have any codes that my scanner reads. Right now im at a loss and looking for some more input and options to try before I have to take it to the dealership.

You'll need to get specific Range Rover diagnostics

Especially if your taking yours off roading often, plenty will go wrong lol

If it is only the HDC warning and not the DSC and ABS etc....it could just be the HDC is detecting an overheat...read the manual about this....

The HDC is controlled by the ABS unit so usually they all fail (ABS/HDC/DSC) all together so I can only assume it is either an overheat or something more sinister.....as the others have said....diagnostics time.
