Hi can anyone help me I have a 1998 Range Rover 2.5 diesel dse which I have in storage and regularly start it at least once a month. The other day I went to start the central locking didywork and when put ignition on there was a message interia switch and hazard lights were flashing all the time . The car still starts fine but hazards flashing all time .i have checked the interia switch which seems ok .checked fuses and fuse box connections and checked the bcem connections. The key only works in the door lock and buttons on key fob have never unlocked the car but put key in door it always unlocked central locking. Please can anyone point me in the right direction.

That’s bit more info :) they’ll be along.

@Grrrrrr would know I bet.

I found ^^^ guy wandering round the intro forum looking for help. His inertia switch dont reset it?

If I would, I would say the alarm is going off....

Do the hazards only flash when the car is running - or before, during and/or afterwards too??

How s the battery level - starting it once or twice a month and runnign the engine is not a sure fire way to ensure the battery is maintained.....check output first.

The demigod has spoken. You cannot get better than that on a diesel unless Wammers puts in an appearance, or possibly Datatek.

Key issue. Sounds like it needs syncing. Also, try Marty's lock tests in case lock actuator playing up. If there's someone nearby with diag (Nanocom or similar) it might make troubleshooting easier. Landyzone International Rescue Map shows members with diag.

I have seen mentioned that the Inertia switch also activates the hazard lights, so I would be looking at the inertia switch. On the other hand a low battery can cause all manner of problems as can wet carpet in the drivers footwell.

His original dash message was inertia switch, he said it didn’t work even after he took it right to clean properly.

New battery sorted half my ‘issues’ that weren’t really there. It started okay and drove everything but still too low power to keep computers from going crazy
