I serviced my disco and used the Haynes manual for guidance, especial when it came to adjusting the valve clearences, read throught the section and folowed what it said and then you get to the bit that sayes refer to the begining of the chapter for the actual measurment its self............There was nothing there, not anywhere in the book could I find what the clearence should be!

Tonight I will mainly be starting the fire with pages out of my manual as it is totaly usless!

have you tried calling the haynes technical help line.. or have you decided its better to gripe about it? they ain't gonna improve if you don't tell them what's wrong

check yer manual or check out their website.. the old dude there is very helpful but without the **** takin you get here

If any one needs the missing info I do know it now. Very helpfull local motor spares shop

*goes and get book
Page 1B.2 Haynes manual under engine for 200 and 300 TDI valve clearence is 0.20mm

See my memory is going lol :)

well its not in mine on that page, its the page of specs but no clearence refrence.

I don't know the conversion but if I did it to 8 thou how far off from .02mm is that or is it the same?

To convert inches to millimetres multiply by 25.4, So 0.010" (ten thou) X 25.4 = 0.254 mm.

To convert millimetres to inches devide by 0.254, So 0.254mm / 25.4 = 0.010".

Ring the helpline and complain.
The numbers at the beginning of the chapter, just after the clearance settings.....................................

This is from my manual, just says TDI engine.
