if you have the 2 button fobs like the rover ones then yes you can go and get 2nd hand fobs and use Hawkeye to programme them to your car i did this 3 weeks ago there is a thread :)

Received me fob from e bay today and will have go with mine soon. I hope it dun't blow up.

thks guys will try and find the thread , as i have indeed got the two button remote

as it came up on the hawkeye should only be operated by an experienced operator with regards to key

i no best start digging lol

as foir the fob programming you go into Transmitters and then follow the instruction make sure you have all there at the same time

then follow what it says then tick to move to next fob it was very easy just need to get new buttons for my 3rd fob now i like to have spares altho i think i best get a 2nd key cut first lmao

thks matt

may i ask where did u get ur fobs from , as i also saw one where the key folds into the remote but looks as though u have to glue them together

only got one remote as the other one failed , i suppose i could try and reprogram it but as its failed once might as well get a new one

do u know if a normal key place can cut a new key or do u have to buy a special blank first please

so nice though ive changed both the central locking motors, makes life so much easier ,

thks

I got my fob from ebay. I think we need the 17tn type? Be careful of peeps selling a "fully working remote fob case" with nuffink inside it = no pcb. they're just selling the case only.

hi

as usual may i ask a daft question, my original key and remote work fine, if i got another one do i have to reprogram the first one, or is it better to keep the one that works out of the way and just call the spare one key two

sorry onve again asking a daft question

thks

gary

correct you have to programme all of the fobs to the car at the same time as it wipes them all

keeps you safe then if you lose a fob just reprogramme your spare one and it will forget the one you lost :)

thks, blimey i would indeed feel very nervous in doing it, as ive only got one remote

ive got a spare and for some reason it just stopped working, was wondering can i just reprogram that one and keep the original in doors out of the way , as i would just be worried as the master works ok and the spare one wont reprogram it could ruin the master

if that makes sense

when the one stopped working i replaced the battery and just wouldn't work, and was concerned the circuit board inside was faulty, it worked fine and i happened to press the lock and unlock button a few times then just stopped working

thks again

it would be worth a try end of the day you have the hawkeye and just programme ur working one first then try the suspect one second least that way if it didnt work you would have done the working one first

thks, yep agree i was just concerned it could clear my working first one , but if that doesn't happen agree could at least see if i can reprogram the second one

nothing like have a nervous twitch and your heart sinking when u try and press the button, lol

There is a security feature that ignores the remote if its used repeatedly, and there is a simple enough fix for that, if I can find it I'll post again.

Quote from the Handbook

"Handset resynchronisation
If the handset fails to lock or unlock the car, this
may be because the coded signal transmitted
by the handset, and the signal expected by the
alarm control unit are no longer synchronised.
To resynchronise the handset, operate either
button of the handset at least five times in quick
succession (in close proximity to the vehicle)."

If this does not work, and unlocking the car sets off the alarm, just get in and turn the key in the ignition to on position then off, this should correct it as there is another transponder in the key.

hiya

thks buddy tried this, didnt work

will still give the hawkeye a go as ive got nothing to loose

if not will buy a spare remote

shame there onky seems to be one company that does the folding key but dont like the idea of having to glue it together

thks again and will let u know how i get on

gary

that was my problem with the folding key was the design of having to stick it together surly they could have come up with a way to click it together
