The first thing to say is that it is without doubt in my and my mates mind BRILLIANT.

Ok so why is that. Well we've just spent 2hrs using on our three TD5's of various ages and specifications.

1. I appear to have cured my permanently running condensor fan problem on Françoise (2002) and cleared one or two fault codes;

2. I have managed to set the suspension to coils on my Silver (1999) car, so no more air suspension faults are being logged;

3. We have identified on my mates car (1999) that the MAF is snookered so he's off to get another one.

Overall it feels very stable and easy to use, took no time at all to get the hang of it in general - detailed knowledge will have to follow.

It has some imo great features like being able to test loads of different electrical circuits and switches for correct operation.

Altogether feel like a very workmanlike kit and I'm looking forward to using it a lot.

On certain sensors it gives values in 2 different sets of units such as the MAF: *kg/minute of air as well as a voltage value. The voltage can be compared with figures in RAVE (unfortunately RAV only says between 0-5volts:() but it would be helpful to have normal operating values for the various sensors:

MAF, MAP, Ambient temp, fuel temp etc etc etc does anyone has a list of values so that I can compare mine to see if they are operating within range?

Also, does anyone has a list of fault codes for Disco II and a description of what they are?

When reading fault codes with HAWKEye, you are given a code (4 didgits) number and the system has a look-up facillity - problem is that in the look-up it has a letter (one of 4 if I remember correctly) as well as the 4 digit code so I've not been succesful with the look-up just yet.

Currently very pleased with purchase.

that's what i'm looking forward to;):D......especially to speak about the programming capabilities............what is a (-) besides the (+)-es comparative to nanocom IMHO is that u could not calibrate height sensors with it.

By the way did u check if it has upgrade 4(ACE) installed?

It feels very easy to use and it does seem to suggest that it can calibrate not only sls but ACE as well !!!

It definitely did come with v4 included.

ACE ....without doubt(if it is real tomorrow i'll get the CD with upgrade 4...at last:))........if u'll figure out how it does the ride height calibration i'll send u some home made plum brandy;)

You're on mate - but you should know that people here get VERY thisty in this hot weather, takes loads of litrs of liquid to sort them out !!!!!!!

Well it's definitely not that !!!!!!!!


To be honest all we did was to go through every menu and every option to see what is available, then act according to on-screen instructions.

No worries i was having problems trying to get them to upload, was going to suggest sending you a disc with them on. Glad youre sorted now though.

I have the Black Box rovacom, very expensive but i had it for the range rover i had. Unfortunately its locked to the chassis number, but it only cost £50 to change vehicles. If i hadnt got any diagnostics and was buying now it would be the Hawkeye or nanocom as the rovacom is expensive for the disco, but very good.

By the way i heve the last version of autodata and there are 3 kind of codes explained there for the Disco 2: EOBD P0, EOBD P2, EOBD U0

Fore engine management all are 3 kinds:
1.(P or U)+4 digit(first0,1 or 2)
2.(P or U)3digit(first0,1 or2)+1letter(A to F)
3.P2A+2digit(from01 to11) ,

For ABS are 2 kinds: 1digit-1digit or 1digit-2digit

And there are plenty of them.

I cant attach the whole list(or I can) but it will be to big for the forum...For those who want.... PM me and i'll attach them to a mail.
 
Well I aint waiting any longer for a nanocom 2 cos I just dont think there coming out... Seen afew on the bay at stupid money ie 285 for a used one..

Looks as though Im gonna have to invest in a Hawkeye..... just a brief question where do u plug it in ?
 
into the Odbc socket ususally under drivers side of dash. Think Disco's are in same place..

I see you have de-egr'd your 2002 td5, does your hawkeye pick up any egr related faults when the faults are read ?. I have de-egr'd mine but have also disconnected both modulators, and am a little surprised that the hawkeye does not show those as open circuit . I would have expected to maybe see an EGR flow fault too . I have tried a fault reading with a generic obd reader and that also shows no faults. I'm really only trying to determine at the moment what it can read and what it can't.
Looking at some previous nanocom posts, that shows these faults when modulators disconnected:
9-6 EGR inlett throttle open load (logged)
9-7 EGR vacum modulator open load (logged)
20-5 EGR valve stuck closed (logged)

My Hawkeye shows a egr fault, I have removed the egr but not disconnected the electrics

I'm pretty sure that it did show up EGR related faults, but I don't remember the details.

I've only used it once on my 2002 car and it just read a small number of faults and then I cancelled them. I was more concerned about learning what it can do - than the individual results themselves.

1. I see thet hawkeye owners are multilpying...so...a question: in the Security-BCU-Programming menu it is an applicatipon for EKA(i was affraid to do experiments)...does anyone know what that means?.....could i actually change the original EKA code with it?...otherwise why did they include EKA in the programming menu?

2. Did anyone find an exclusive forum just about hawkeye handling?.......for me the user manual seems quite vague.
