had to replace the auto gearbox and transfer box on my 99 disco 2 v8 see other threads. Came to fit it all yesterday and have discovered the spline on the output shaft on the gearbox is diffrent to the previous one. Both gearboxs say zf4hp22. Do i now need to go out and buy another gearbox or transfer box and are there really 2 gearboxs with the same zf number but with diffrent spline width.

Hope one of you can shed some light on this for me as now getting to my wits end.

thats odd , give ashcrofts a ring and post the results on here as I would be very interested!

Defender, Disco 1 or Range Rover classic use the zf4hp22, the disco 2 and p38 use's zf4hp22eh. could this be the difference? Try dropping Ashcroft's a line like fett says.

hi thank you for all your replies i will call ascrofts tomorrow and of course post the info on here.

Smurphy the box i have is a eh on the end.

Vouguse where would i be able to get one from and is it easy to do.

Thank you all again

Are you referring to the output shaft? Remove the shaft from your old box. Is the replacement unit a electronic contoled unit as that cod be the difference
