Hi all

I am not a Landy expert and need some advice from you guys.

Recently my Defender 90 TD5 had its MOT and passed after him doing a replace rear prop shaft uj, replace drop arm ball joint, replace rear brake pads. He recommends I do something as there is slight play in rear anti roll bar bush.

However, about 3 days after the MOT the car has made a noise which comes randomly when in gear (any gear at any time). To me it sounds like it's from the front somewhere but hard to tell when driving.

The noise sounds like, imagine a metal circular saw cutting through metal or vibration on metal. Sometimes it sounds like screeching. The noise last for short periods of time, sometimes louder than other times and I'd generally say from 3-5th gear as I don't use 1stj or 2nd really except when pulling off so haven't heard it in these.

I have continued to drive it and the car drives exactly the same.

One thing I haven't mentioned yet (which I think could be the culprit) is that my dual mass flywheel is on its way out indefinitely. But would it make this noise?

Any ideas? I'd appreciate help. If it is something I can get fixed at home rather than a specialist, I will do so

Grace :)

Sounds like the same noise I recently had which was front propshaft UJs. I ignored it for a few weeks and the prop gave way on Thursday. Not trying to scare you but that's what mine was.
