Hi all,

My drivers side wheel bearing collapsed on my 1995 Defender 90 300tdi.
Come to strip it down and my half shaft only slides out about 4 inches.
Ive tapped it with a hammer to try and remove it and still stuck inside.

Anyone have any suggestions or what I need to do?

Also as you can probably see I'm new to Land Rover's

rear presumably ,if it comes out 4 inches shaft isnt caught in the diff so can only be stuck in stub axle ,levers and a copper hammer should shift it

Sorry, yes it is the rear half shaft I'm on about aha.
We have been hitting it a fair bit and still no joy.
It does look like it could be catching on the splines on the shaft.

Had wheel bearing collapse on td5 with a proper "good" weight in the back of it and a trailer on. However hard we tried with pullers etc in the end had to put a strap around the flange of the shaft and pull it out on a winch..
