Well the Green Oval Goblin is well documented but i think i can report the first case of the Green Oval Fairy ?!!?

Done nothing other than replace the valve unit and driver pack to the RR over the weekend, not even driven it.
Got in it at 6am as i do every week day, 2 goes on the glow plugs starts first time as always, pulled off and drove to end of my road.
This is where the story changes.....I'm well used to how the dse drives as i've already owned one and driven others, yes you know the delayed throttle response and sluggish low speed take off, Not this morning!
I felt like a different car, instant take up of drive from stand still, instant throttle response, i even overtook a 320d on the slip road!
Got in it tonight and the drive home was just the same................c'mon tell me whats going to go bang! and burst my bubble.

Sounds like the fairies have swapped the engine for a V8:D

If it needs two applications of the glow plugs you have a problem.

To be honest it starts fine with one, but takes a few seconds, its full of old folks where i live so i give it 2 so it fires first crack so i don't get any moans at 6am.

I had the same issue until I tapped my FIP about. Starts on 1 go now.

Maybe the Map sensor has unblocked itself. As Wammers said, if it takes 2 shots at the glowplugs you have a problem, mine bursts into life instantly when cold whatever the weather. One or 2 of your glowplugs are on the way out.

Yeah, i was concerned about over fueling and possible runaway but checked oil level to be correct and no smell of diesel.
Just a though on that subject though, how do you stall a runaway on a auto?
Block the air intake with something that will not get sucked in.

I will order a set of OE glow plugs as i put the cheap ones in my last DSE and they were Cr*p.

Something has cleared itself or reset as its still the same this morning, to best describe it, its like towing a car behind you for a month and getting used to the reduced performance then the tow rope snapping. it really is responsive and sharp.

Beru, Delphi Bosche or NGK for glowplugs.

Are you sure that your alarm clock had gone off..........

Well its still driving like a new car, cant believe my luck!
I am fully aware there's always a trade off, you know every silver lining has a black cloud, so i decided to validate my fuel consumption.
Filled it to the neck Monday night, clocked up 397 miles by this afternoon so call it 400.
57.4 litres to fill it to the neck, by my shocking maths that's 12.62 Gallons divided by 400 gives me 31.69mpg, really happy considering trip computer tells me i averaged 29.8mpg.
Still waiting for that Goblin to knock the fairy out and kick me in the bullocks.
