Are there any green lanes in Kent, pref North?

Am looking for some gentle off roading in the Spring, would also like to try something more adventurous on an off road course in a basic series 3, any ideas....

Any web sites that may be of interest??

Websites: try GLASS the green lane assc. or Wetroads.co.uk for roads with fords, some on byways. Mags are good for pay and play events. Get yourself some OS maps of your area. Get in touch with a local club, find them by magazine or google. Not a good idea to do lanes alone in case you get stuck. Good Luck.

Cheers Spyder and Sam....

Will def be giving it a go once my one is up and running sweet...

Sam you local, I'm on Sheppey..

Sam,

Will be going up to Woodlands near Brands Hatch in the spring for a basic off road day, fancy tagging along.... Will only be doing the novice course though.

Hello,

Yeah Sounds Good!! I will probably be the only Series 2 there so not hard to spot!! :)

I bet though by the the end of the day you will be doing some of the harder stuff as you will get the bug for it!! :D. Also as you never been there before I can take you through the slightly harder runs if you want just incase you are worried about them. I am going to be doing this for my mate this sunday as he his taking his Jeep Cherokee ( probably shouldn't say them words on here!! ) and he is a bit worried about getting stuck so he is going to follow me around.

Sam, Look forward to getting my wheels dirty up at Brands, and yes I will want to try more extreme (Not deep wading, no snorkel and dont want damp/wet trousers!) Will be taking my 11 year old lad with me, should be OK for him wont it??

Dave, they do runs like the ski slopes, white being novice with no mods, up to Black which is the extreme for the well modded. So your freelander should be OK, the guy who owns the snack bar in Aylesford (St Michaels close) goes up there a lot, will try and ask him in the next day or so for you....

I have been told there is a green lane behind the garage on Blue Bell Hill (Maidstone bound) leads up to Boxley hill, would be an interesting time sussing it out??:)

I too am a green lane/off road virgin......... But wanna try....

Spoke to the guy with th tea bar today, Brands is now closed until March, but the white route will be OK to be taken in a Freelander, bit mucky but not damaging...

Was going to go this morning.......

BUT, ended up under threat of having my testicles removed with a blunt cheese knife if I did not go Xmas shopping......:(

Adz, that link seems to be dead, but I've driven on some of pilgrims way and it has some great views. I think it has some sort of seasonal closure on it, but I could be confusing it with the Ridgeway, in fact as I type, I'm almost certain its the Ridgeway thats partly closed for the winter. I have a couple of OS maps for the area and there are quite a few little BOATs there (Byway Open to All Traffic). Last time I was there we suffered a little rambler rage and almost had a new hood ornament in the shape of a speeding scrambler bike.

ouch, that musta been scary , u are in a 4x4, u couldve rammed them so they dont come back. clearing the place for da rest of us. lol, other than that whats it like? any dips/slopes or just a rough track......

Try www.wayfinder .co.uk
Gives you all the Byways that are still driveable after the reclassification of em by the new laws that have been past in the last few months or so...And you can print them off route by route...Excellent site...
