Is the swivel seal totally knackered? Like hanging out knackered?

Jack the axle up and see if the wheel has any excessive play too.

cheers mate, will check for play but tightened bearings the other day so should be good,
havent cleaned it up & looked yet, doing me trans oils atm. if it is knackered can i just replace the seal for now as im a bit tight on funds ??? or is it loads of parts needed ??
cheers for the quick reply

Did you have it all apart the other day then?

You have possibly disturbed something.

If it is just the seal, then there is a way you can do a repair that will see you till you have some more funds. It has been reported to last quite well too.

Remove the seal retaining ring (two halves) then you can cut the old seal to take it off, then you can take a new seal, make a good clean cut in it, and put it round the swivel, then superglue it back together. Wait till it sets, then install the seal and replace retaining ring. £2.99, job done.

All I know is dont drive it, if you do you will die! well you might....so just be careful if its going on the brakes.

right an update guys jacked the wheel off the floor, loads of play !!!
took the outer appart the bearings are fine but the whole stub axle & disc caliper etc has stupid amounts of play, but i cant for the life of me see where the play is
Please help me im losing the will to live here

havent removed the hub yet still reading the manual & trying to work it out ! ( swivel bearings broken up ) ??????

yeah tried tightening the bearings & no different
sorry not removed the caliper yet, im thinking it will be pretty apparent what it is when i get it appart, in the process of reading & its almost dark so i will continue in the morning !
Cheers for the response, i just hope it aint anything too expensive as im almost bankrupt lol

Of course you are you own a landy I think that if you could strip it down then you may find either shot bearing in the swivel the hole where the bearing train is, may be cracked. or a problem with the swivel pin(s)

Should show up whilst stripping down use busters photoguide on here its a better guide than in the Haynes!

Good luck:)
