Hi there, first post, been cutting around on here especially the technical threads which are proving dead handy.
Got myself a 1989 110 recently, and just have a few questions, did do a search but couldn't find any definitive answers;
When letting off the throttle at say 50mph theres a grinding noise from somewhere underneath on the truck (cant pinpoint between middle or rear) which quiets once the truck is settled. The grinding noise comes back when you accelerate but clears once you put your foot down. It's as if in the transition stage when the truck is pitching it doesn't like it. Any idea on what this is? UJ's don't seem to have any play. It's as if, if your coasting at 50mph, you touch the accelerator slightly-grinding, put your foot down properly-quiet. and the same in decelerating, let off slightly and theres grinding, let off completely and it goes after a few seconds? Its quite loud and something is obviously wrong
Also, I know there is a 19j forum but I thought I'd save it for one thread, my truck smokes heavily on startup but clears once warm. It isn't too hard to start after 5-10 seconds on the glowplug. I've seen you can advance the injector timing to solve this, how do I go about that? (please explain in numpty terms!)
I've also read it can be oil passing by cold pistons and settling in the intake from the breather. Can I fit a normal ebay catchcan in the breather line before the intake?
Cheers for any help,
Chris
