I will be going to see a Range Rover on Monday with a Diahatsu 2.8 tdi engine transplant.

The car is a 1991 Vogue se (originally a 3.9 V8) with an auto box.

Is this a common transplant or not? Should I just go for an original 3.9 V8 ?

The car will be used primarily for towing.

Any advice will be gratefully received.

Cheers.

this is a good transplant as the daihatsu engine is a good engine, its quite common and as long as it was done properly then you will have no problems, if you struggle with insurance try adrian flux, he's quite good with hybrids(which this vehicle is now classed as ) ;)

why wud yu want to change a 3.9 V8 for a 2.8 diesel? has it more torque - or is it just fuel consumption?

i thought the V8 was quite reliable.....?

:D Decision made yesterday, couldn't resist the lure of the V8 !!

Now the proud owner of a black Vogue SE and lovin' it. Drove 3 hrs home yesterday and managed around 20 mpg, amazing !!

Sound track is awesome too.
