hi
would anyone have a rough guesstimate at what a s11A lightweight could be worth
spec:
truck cab conversion
fully rebuilt front axle
2.25 diesel
12 volt
chassis in need of some slight patching
small bit on bulk head needing welded (5"x5")
62000miles
possible new rear x-member
and ALL new brakes which need ajusting because the pedal is on the floor

i got it for £800

A good clean restored rover 1 (2a lightweight) can fetch upto £4000 but it would need to be very well restored to original (truck cab removed & tilt or hardtop put on etc etc) What is on the data plate? mil reg number ie 20 HF 77, I can tell you which part of the service it was with, the data plate should be on the bulkhead by the steering column or on the seat box.

I sold an ex-RAF 1974 S3 LW last year that was almost finished for £1200 & that was cheap.

If you're keeping as it is then you paid about the right price for it.

You say it's a gazole ~ do you know if this is the original engine or has it been re-engined since entering the civvy world?

between 250 and 1000 seems to be the going rate for a series needing some work. (no mot etc..).
just be careful you dont spend thousands on it to find that you own a car worth 1500 quid.

of course things are different if you intend to keep it for yrs and yrs.

Just looked at the pictures, something about this one is bothering me.

Has someone plonked a lightweight body on a civvy chassis?

what is the date of first registration on the V5?

What date of manufacture is on the V5?

Have you checked the chassis number against the V5?

Has it had a new rear crossmember?

Is the crossmember under the gearbox welded or bolted on?

there's nothing to worry about, someone may have put the diesel in it & put a civvy crossmember on instead of the more expensive lightweight one, even if it has had a LW body dropped on it doesn't really matter, it just wont be worth as much as a genuine LW, the date of first registration is usually 10+ years after date of manufacture if it's military, & the crossmember under the gearbox is bolted in not welded.

being genuine or not you still have & good solid working LR.

phew what a relief some bugger mustave put a civvy x-member on.

could any one tell me if this (ebay Item number: 320080592889) repair pannel will fit my lighty with a bit of trimming

if yer right click on the address bar then left click copy then in the lz box, go advanced then just click on the paste link box

yup, they are good panels, my mate bought a pair of them off him fer his 90, you just need to trim em a bit or yer cant get the door rubber back on ;)
