Thank you for replies to my previous posts concerning Disco vs. Def. Now a little more about the Disco II before I find my way to the dealer:)

What about all the electronics and water, I would think that the electronics: windows, aircon, locks etc., have a hard time being flooded when going in water?

I would think a 2" lift before going off road is a good idea? Should I make the air to spring conversion, or not? Can I lift it without the conversion?

What should I do to the car, as a minimum, before going moderate off road?

What kind of challenges will I meet as a Disco owner, taking my Disco II off road? I am thinking mechanical/electrical issues, but also in general

Lots of concerns... Maybe I should just go for it......

I'd but the car and see what happens to be frank. For greenlaning you won't need to do anything to the car ( except maybe tyres ). worry about lifts/ snorkels etc after youve had the car a while

NOTHING!

Don't waste your money. Take it off road as is, take into account its unmodified so don't go crazy, and see what issues you encounter.

Then you can go home and start spending money on the things you do actually need.

And just be prepared it won't be an awesome totally amazing off-roader from the very start, but a work in progress :)

Ha, you beat me to it, but glad to see we concluded the same :)

All yu need to do is fit decent tyres, extend the breathers (we dont want to fill the diffs with water - do we) and have a recovery point front and rear.

Oh - and a good service.

One thing I would do is have a good look at insurance..... I found that I could get better deal on the insureance if it was modified....Dont ask me why but try some of the 4 x 4 Insurance brokers like Franck Pickles.

As an example, I was paying £610 standard with a well know company but after advice from here Iam payin £156, and that includes Off roading, with mods, so i am now busy adding mods....:D:D:D:D.
