SHORT ROUND

I've been a member for a little while now but in the discovery section always wanted a 90 but finances just would'nt allow this, so settled for a discovery. then 2 months back i had the chance to buy a project 90. And as money still would'nt allow me to buy a complete vehicle decided to go for it. so this what i bought

Good on you ! Get all those hard to fix bits done while the body is off ;)

That looks a good buy as you can see what it's really like in that state. As money allows you can build it up the way you want.
It might be an idea to buy one like that, if I ever do another one.

Looks very nice, I like the snorkel.

Shame about the heap of scrap in the foreground though, kind of ruins the picture :p:D

Engine is now running, just need to sort the power steering pipes and then i can concentrate on the body then

looks good ive been doing the same with a defender i bought off my mate and had to sell my defender daily driver to fund it so been land rover-less for a few months but hopefully not far off finishing keep up the good work

i just seen your album.... you started this thread, with the first pic, on the 31st of August...

have you done all of that on your album, since the 31st of August? in 10 days??

Looking like a very good job indeed - Is it working out to be an economical build or is it more expensive than you thought it would be?

Tending towards the generous waistline?
Developing a distinguished, mature hairline?
Partaking of a malty beverage straight from the bottle?
Stood on the drive looking at a land rover with a bemused smile?

Are you sure you're not me?

The 90's coming on nicely, you were lucky to find one with such a straight chassis.

well to buy a decent 90 of that age, you would be looking to pay between £3,000-£5000 and my donor vehicle cost £700 and to date it only stands me at £1,750 total so cheapish and i know that all the rust is already taken care of.

well not much been happening on the project this week as the weather has been cr*p but i have managed to swap the wheels off my disco onto the 90 will take a fresh piccy tomorrow if the weather is ok. i am in need of some parts and some repairs to the doors so hopefully progress will resume shortly.

well the doors that i got with the donor vehicle after deeper inspection i found they were worse than i thought. :( so i have sourced some more doors off a td5 which arrived today finally after waiting weeks for delivery of them. :) so tomorrow i will start stripping them down ready for preping and spraying before fitment but as they are from a td5 they don't need any repairs apart from the rear door. but that is because the previous owner had a very heavy large spare attached to the back and it has split and weakened the structure slightly on the frame. the old doors i will keep and repair at a slower pace but i am basically gonna have to replce 75% of the frame in the original doors. i will take some pics of the doors and progress tomorrow and post tomorrow night.

ha!!

here you are!!

there was someone the other day asking about building a 90 from scratch and i mentioned I had seen someone here that had bought half of one and then rebuilt it with new(ish) parts..

it was you!

just a quick update, things hav'nt progressed that much but as you can see from the photo's the roof is now on, n/s door, windows, chequer plate and i have started fitting the snorkel. o/s door is now sprayed but still needs reassembling before fitment. also n/s hinges need taking back off as i forgot to spray them up before fitting DOH!!! but hey i'm getting there.
