got the gems ecu opened up, ie gizmo to remove becm that sends immobiliser data to ecu to allow it to spark and fuel...its installed internally..
i have good batt volts..

its not connected to autobox ecu at present, but that should not matter..

i dont have any diagnostic readers as of yet..think i might need one!


got no spark...does gem ecu require an input to tell it its in park/neutral to start?been told it dont, ie make sure it is in p/n or it will roar off if started in gear..
does coil packs earth though frame or does it have earth wire?..etc..

gonna check over crank and cam sensor, but sure they are good...

want to go though options before throwing back ecu (though shop window)to people who unlocked it, case i forgot something...

If the RRCs have start inhibit switches for autoboxes then I would have thought a P38 would have it as well.

yes they do..but was under the understanding that it was talking to becm..becm controls cranking..or did do.it dont now!

engine cranks ..no spark...

the gems ecu has a control wire..b/o that goes to n/p switch, but i thought that was to alter base idle..i may be wrong..it may control spark on crank, but i dought that...


i know there is one way to find out..however i am thinking its a n on starter..(excuse the pun)

well it aint that wire..think it just controls ecu base idle..

some investigating...ie remove ecu...and manually fire up coils..no spark..hmmmmm

right, coils are feed from ign relay, ecu gnds primary windings (4) in turn.(wasted spark)
so i did ecu job..plenty plenty current flowing in primary, but no sparky from secondaries, thats all 4!
dont believe all 4 are shot...

so only thing now before i try to rremove them...(that will be alaugh! s/c right in the way) is to check coils earth to engine...cant imagine its no good, 3 nuts afterall!
seems to measure 7 ohm, which i grant is too high, i will see....but thinking about this..they dont need an earth!doooh..so it aint that

yep...dumped ecu and gizmo and installed megasquirt....gizmo was faulty ..TWICE..gave up on..
