Can anyone speak from experience? I have heard that replacing an earlier Gems engine with a later Thor unit is not a direct replacement, that the mounts are different?
Mounts look to be the same to me. And I would say it would be the least of your worries!
The inlet manifold is different, the timing cover is different, the amount and type of lambda sensors can be different (depending on the country of sale) Most of these should be solved by putting the new engine in.
The BECM is also different - and is required by the Thor engine ECU. This will probably be a nuiscence too unless you plan on using a Thor engine with an aftermarket ECU?

what a load of crap if you are swapping the engine then the engine less inlet manifold is the same period!
swap your inlet manifold and knock sensors and the crank sensor and plug from the block for the crank sensor done 10 of these now so it is easy!!
