I have the ocasional problem with shifting into 3rd from fourth.

Clutch in a push it over fully, perhaps not good for a 1990 90?!?!?

I find going into the middle pausing then going into 3rd works much better, anyone have any comments on this situation, I woudln't like to think I have a gear issue with 3rd.

Also today, shifting into 1st on a hill I had a little trouble, master cylinder just redone also.

I have similar problems with mine '89 90.

It's a lucky dip and sods law says it'll be when I'm at the front of the queue when I find reverse intead of first.

I used to have a Ford ezzy van which was pretty much the same, the problem was a worn gear lever mounting. So I'm hoping it's a similar problem i.e. worn linkages etc.

I'm just waiting for better weather to have a go at it. In the mean time I'm setting of from traffic lights rather slowly.

Doubling the clutch helps and if you listen to some people on here, it's quite normal to have to open the passenger door to get it into reverse!!!!!

i find that sometimes it quicker just to shout to the guy in the car next to you and get him to do it for you,... or a passing pedestrian

not sure abt what speed you're doing but sometimes when down shifting, blip the accelerator a lil just before you push into 3 will help if you are not really slowing down.

this increases the engine speed to match the gear box rotations and hence allows the gear to be selected.

works for me on a R380 box
