how much of a job is it to change gearbox on a 300tdi discovery? mines vibrating and knocking like mad. Got loads of plat in it to.

Hi,
Currently in the middle of replacing the box on mine mate its a case of if you got the right tools and a garage/workshop to do it in its fine if not a bloody nightmare the box and transfer box weigh a tonne im putting the box in first then fitting the transfer box on after its more fiddly to connect up but the gearbox on her own isnt to bad.

HI i have just done mine, 200tdi I changed the both together as one unit it is a lot more easy, but I did mine out side my garage, you have to lift the car high enough to clear the floor pan, I used ramps and a pair of steel wheel holders (ramps without the angle) and lowered the two, on a 2 ton trolley jack with a small cradle to support them, with a ratchet strap to stop it moving, my jack has a removable centre, so I bolted through the cradle.
