hi there, this is my first freelander, i got this 4x4 with a clutch prob, having taking the gearbox out i find the shaft that the bearing goes on to be stuck and will only move by puttin a bar on it there the arm to move it, will i need a new gearbox or can it be fixed ?

I'm guessing it's a PG1 box. The clutch release lever is seized. Free if of with some kind of penatrating fluid. Once it free remove the fork and wiggle the shaft out. Clean it with wire wool. Lubricate with CV joint grease and refit. Then replace the clutch bearing and refit the box.

Mike Satur does a modded clutch release arm for the pg1 box, it's drilled and fitted with a grease nipple - you should be able to find details on the MGRover forum. Stops the seizure problem. Might be worth looking at ??
