Sorry I couldn't reply sooner...
I've recently got a 2.5 td Auto and had felt that the gear change was at too high a revs. This is what I've done and I'm much happier about it now. Firstly, accept that it does... usually at about 3000 depending on how hard your foot is on the throttle. Learn to 'drive' the autobox. Accelerate and then slacken off a bit and it will change up, then accelerate more gently, it will stay in the higher gear.
But also: Change the gearbox filter and when you fill it up again put some Lucas Transmission fix in with the fluid. (If you mix this with the fluid you'll get it all in otherwise its not easy as its so thick.)
It took me a while to get used to the autobox but the above helped and as I say, I'm a lot more relaxed about it now. These engines can do high revs (it may not sound great, but as long as its not for too long, its ok)
Good luck - do the fluid and filter change and then just sit back and enjoy driving it!:)
