Hello

I drove to the station this morning and this flashed up when I started the car. It seems the buttons on the steering wheel don’t function as the “ok” button wouldn’t work to clear the fault. The “Gearbox paddles disabled” warning just stays there. The adaptive cruise control wouldn’t function either...or any of the controls on the steering wheel - the heated steering wheel button did though.

Any ideas that aren’t going to cost me a fortune?

It is a 2011 Range Rover vogue 4.4 Diesel

If it happened when you started the car, odds on the battery voltage is low.

Hi, I'm sure someone will be along to help soon. Any chance it could be battery or a fuse? Afraid its above my pay grade but I can point you in the direction of the suggestions below, which are always helpful when asking for help . Although you seem to have lost them in the 10 months since your last post ......

Our L322 threw a “gearbox fault” on the display but disappeared once started the other day guessing because of low voltage lots of small trips recently, been ok since a couple of long runs (expecting a new battery purchase soon it is original I think:()
Anyway they throw all sorts of messages on low voltage but this should go once started if charging system working well.
For all the functions to go off at the same time I wouldn’t expect 1 fuse to control all those functions, but worth checking.
Next question would be do you have or access to diagnostic?
If not I would check connections on the steering column loom up to the steering wheel. Heading towards the rotary coupler. I have not been in amongst ours(yet) but you can trouble shoot this with a Multi meter.
Caution please be careful around the airbag.
I wouldn’t think a gearbox fault at first,because you have lost so much electrikery in 1 go.

Good luck but start with cheap stuff, and your abilities. I am sure somebody will come along with a better way of testing/checking.

So, I started with a charge of the battery which was only at 60%. Charged it up to 100% and was hoping this would solve the issue....but the next morning it was the same!

So I went for the old, turn it all off and turn it on technique. I disconnected the battery, left it for 20 mins and then connected it - hey presto all back to normal! Thanks for the tips guys!

ECU's got confused by low battery voltage.
