My wife has a '00 1.8 xei which she loved until she had to pay out 1500 pounds for a gearbox and other bits. the vehicle has done only 65k. apparently all the oil leaked from a seal somewhere at the gear box.
has anyone heard of this fault before?
Is there any point contacting landrover about this.
There was no warning light to prevent this happening

The seals on the PG1 gearbox can leak if the differential bearings wear. This will cause slight weeping over time and could cause the gearbox to run low on oil.

Sadly there is no oil level warning light - just a regular check and top up at service intervals.

yu cant loose anything by trying, but not sure you will get anywhere. £1500 for gearbox sounds about right - did you get an extra oil cooler fitted at the same time?
when was the oil level last checked?

gearboxes are prone to overheating e- xtra cooling is a good idea.
thinks - i mite have got the wrong end of the stick. I am talking about the Auto box.
