Hi all, not long became a LR owner.

I am about to fit a replacement r380 gearbox into my 300tdi disco, I will be changing the oil once fitted and i can get it warm.
I have found stated that it holds 2.7ltrs of mtf 94, my question is, has anyone got the whole amount in/out?

I ask as unipart supply it in 2.5ltr bottles, and from previous experience with other vehicles you never manage to drain out what the book says the capacity is. My wallet would happily only buy the one bottle at the moment!

Another question, what colour oil am i looking for when i drain it (apart from the obvious funny answer of black!) i know that both atf and mtf is used. I want to keep an eye out as if it is atf i would rather do another change a few weeks down the line to flush out any mix of oils.

you wont need you redrain oil if had atf in just change yearly oils dont hurt mixing,with little left in

Well even if its a tad low 0.2 litres wont kill it for a week or two.
I think i only got 2.25 litres ish back into mine the other day.
