Help..........

Ok my 99 discovery td5 auto has a slight problem, when driving on a run it seems to be jerking, almost like it is slipping out of gear for a second, after a little while all drive disappears, it drops to idle and just won't play. Both the manual and sports indicators flash, as does what looks like a small orange pic of a gearbox in the top left. Stopping and switching off the ignition seems to rest the ecu which allows me to drive until it goes again.

The car went into the garage for this 2 weeks ago, after £200 and a new XYZ switch the snag still remains, has anyone come across this before, or have any ideas how bad this could be, for both the car and the bank manager?

Ta in advance

The auto gearbox's work off oil pressure. have you checked the level, but couldn't imagine it would be that simple??

As above, get ATF level checked first.

as does what looks like a small orange pic of a gearbox in the top left.

This is actually the 'check engine' light, but is the only way that any ECU has of warning of a problem. Take the Disco somewhere where it can be plugged in and get any fault codes read.....assuming fluid level is ok......this will save just replaceing suspect components.
