Following my post and excellent response in regards the issue with none starting, it looks like the gear selector switch needs replacing, quick question the cable running from it runs up to the top of the bell housing, what's the removal method, can you get your hand up over the top of the box to remove it ?

By cable do you mean the electrical harness of the actual selector cable itself??

If the cable, no need to remove, just unbolt and follow RAVE for the re-install procedure as I believe you have to get the cable adjustment right.

If it is the wiring harness, it is quite short so doesn't go a long way, but it is no doubt a fiddle to get to.

Do you have RAVE?

lrspareparts have got their parts mixed up – that’s the switch from a Disco 2. The Range Rover switch has a long lead on it and a different connector. The top one in the picture below is from an L322, the lower one is from a BMW X5 and you can see that, although the switch and connectors are the same, the length of wire between them is shorter for the X5 because BMW mount the switch under the oil pump housing rather than up on top of the bellhousing.

If you take the air plenum out and put the bonnet in its service position you should be able to access the connector more easily.

Oops....my mistake....ignore me, most do. I stand in the shadow of greatness and shall learn from the master, for I am just a young grasshopper :D:D:D

Thanks for the correction Phil!

Thanks guys for the informative reply, it's such a breath of fresh air to post on a forum and get a descriptive response from knowledgeable people as opposed to smart unhelpful replies
