OK, just got a '96 Disco xs 3.9i auto (it was advertised as an Arden but I'd have thought it would have an arden badge & non standard bits...) anyway, bought it mainly for the wife to cart the kids around & go to stables as I'm getting my old series 2a back shortly. Although it's not a massive issue, she doesnt want to use it much because of the fuel consumption so I thought about getting it converted to LPG. Well, I did until I saw the price - at around £2k it would take about 4 years to pay for itself - makes it a bit prohibitive on a 10 year old car!
I have seen LPG kits available & was wondering on the viability of them. Not so much on being able to do it, I've rebuilt a few engines etc but on things like wether they're any good, what else needs to be done that's not in the kit, is it legal? & if so what do I tell my insurers if they want to see a certificate i.e. can I get one from an LPG approved garage if they inspect it afterwards? If I were to do it any advice & tips from anyone who's already done it would be greatly appreciated. Would like to keep the rear seats so it would have to be underslung cyclinders, I know it's not good for ground clearance but then again my series will be the one that gets muddy..:)
