Hi in march I will be beginning my series 3 rebuild, it currently has an un-painted galvanised chassis and I will be fitting galvanised jackable sills. The galvanised parts will be treated with mordant solution then primer and finally tetrosyl chassis black. However I'm not sure what primer to use I've seen Hammerite special metals primer mentioned but other people say it dries too hard. I've also seen upol #8 but I don't think anyone's used it on a chassis so has anyone got any views or recommend a product?

Regards
Alex

dulux do a metalshield qd primer that will go straight to bright and weathered galv they also do metalshield in satin or gloss finish not cheap. Had good reports on both product used in industrial applications but not on chassis.

It seems that Hammerite's Direct to Galvanised Metal Paint is all u need, no need for a primer.
