Does anyone know: Did Landrover ever offer the Defender 90 with a galvanised chassis/bulk head as a factory option when buying new ?.

Funny this , I have heard of a few late 300tdi ROW ones that were fitted with galv chassis, altho this might just be the rumour mill.
Not sure about the bulkhead.

Why do you ask?

Cheers

I have a 2004 Defender 90 XS, I bought it with 14k miles on the clock when 2 years old, it was a cat D with repaired light damage. It has a galvanised chassis and inner wings etc and all looks original, I wondered if this was from new or replaced. It did not look like any work had been done to the undedside or engine bay etc. in fact you cant tell there had been any damage to the car at all.

Can you see the chassis number?

Maybe the chassis was changed, how much would it cost to write off a 2004XS against fitting a new chassis and repairing the rest from a chassis supplier?

A nice problem to have....LOL

Cheers

It is possible it was changed but when I bought it it did not look like a shiny new galvanised chassis although in perfect condition, I cant see any markings or stamps on the chassis to indicate a manufacturer and have always wondered if it is original Landrover and if it were an option. And the inner wings as well look original. Either way I am happy to have it and intend to keep it forever. Its also nice to see them being sold for the same money (and more) than I paid for mine 11 years ago and thats without galvanised chassis.
