Think outside, no box required.
Is being a pain in the arse..

About a year ago this month the door lock actuator failed and rendered the car immobilised.

The rear tailgate button also stopped working, conveniently.

To stop fuse 15 blowing i had to disconnect all the wiring in the tailgate
However the issue is, fuse 15 blows if the wiring in the tailgate is connected.

The only way i can stop it from blowing is to disconnect all the wiring in the boot, etc..

There seems to be a short somewhere..

However is there any common areas to check?

Cheers.

Your no pain bud, owners manual states Fuse 15 - 20A - courtesy lights, handset receiver, load space light, rear wiper, sub woofer, rear audio system amplifiers.

I would check these too ;)

Tailgate button grounds through the lock actuator microswitch - middle one, I think. That might have shorted. @martyuk upgrades it on his refurbed ones.

Yes as mentioned by Grrrrrr check the lock
there was a thread earlier in the year that turned out to be door lock causing agro with the tailgate button.

Just seen on another thread that he's bought a new actuator so presumably he'll know soon!

Do you have a towbar and electrics?

Yes, factory fitted to the best of my knowledge..

original swan neck towbar with electrics. ;)

Tow bar i removed as i kept smacking my shin on it, and the neighbour commented on how it looked like a rude thing. ;)

This is a long shot.....

There used to be - many moons ago - a way of breaking into P38's by shorting out certain wires on the tow bar electrics that would activate the locks or the tailgate or something....

On my first P38, I had it for about 3 weeks, then all of a sudden It kept blowing the odd fuse here and there......a bit of investigation showed that the towbar wiring had been fecked about with and were intermittently shorting out blowing fuses and etc....

Now I am not saying that is what could be wrong with yours, but is worth a coat of looking at.

Aye that is definitely worth a good looking at..

Cheers as always Saint.. :)

New ones arrived today, hopefully will fit it tomorrow.

In the manual fuse 15 has been coloured in and has a few arrows pointing to it !!

so this isn't her first time!

hopefully when i plug in the switch and tailgate it'll work and not go poof!!
in a cloud of smoke!!!!!!! ;)

Could also be a bad rear wiper motor shorting out.. #

Just paranoid about the new latch tbh lol ;)

If there is a coloured-in manual with scribbles I would invest in small
Box of 20A and keep searching, switch can play hell with a lot of things so new one is good, I would look for signs of where someone has likely potched in past when they coloured the manual in. You will get there I'm sure ;)
