ALMOST broke down this morning, filled up with petrol, jumped on the motorway as usual, but about a mile down the road it started to missfire and try to cut out - felt like was running out of petrol.
Switched the fuel tap back over to the almost empty tank and it sprung back into life.
Luckily I had enough fuel in the tank to get off the motorway, because whenever I switched onto the full tank it did the same after about a mile.
I was thinking, that the only think I did differently than any other time I fill up was consiously tighten the fuel cap as much as I could (dont know why).
So I loosened the cap, flicked back over to the full tank and it was fine for the rest of the day.
All I can think that as the fuel cap was fully tightened that it was pressurizing the tank, causing fuel starvation - any thoughts???

blocked breather,for fuel to flow it has to be replaced by air as the level drops,if the breather is blocked no air can enter hence fuel cannot flow.

Do you have a breather in your fuel cap?

Fix this soon as the vacuum could suck the tank flat.
I've seen a few in my time.

Usually blow them back out with an airline!

Its not going well.... woke up to torrential rain and hail stone.. and a flat tyre.... went back to bed, work can manage without me today!
