I've got a leak from the last metal pipe just as it enters the sender, it broke off easy when I touched it.
The nut and olive arrangement is rubbish as is the metal pipe with the bend that goes to plastic upstream. I've ordered a new sender, gasket and lock ring but while I'm waiting for that to come, I want to improve that area. If anyone knows the outside diameter of the pipe on a new sender then I can make a plan!
It's the early type sender, the later one is plastic outlet and has the low fuel sensor, mine is basic 2 terminal.

I can’t remember the size off the top of my head, but I deleted that pipe and now have one length of diesel hose from the sender to the lift pump.

I can't do that without a lot of faff. I run bio which eats rubber and I've converted everything to clear nylon pipe and compression fittings and a facet 12v pump. My plan is to fit a 8 or 10mm 90deg compression fitting to the sender and lengthen the nylon to reach. If the sender tube isn't 8 or 10mm and is an odd size then I'll probably braze or solder something to that tube so I can fit a standard off the shelf compression fitting. At least that bugger won't rust itself to death and should undo easy being brass.
