I have noticed A leak which is coming from the underside of the fuel spill pipe on my 300td, just where it connects to the pump. Read in the Haynes manual that sometimes the system gets blocked, but it offered no explanation as to how to cure this. Also the car has done 220,000 miles, is it more likely that the pipe needs replacing as I read they do get brittle?

worth checking the union on the filter, that its not leaking there and running down the pipe. have you looked at it with the engine running? should be more apparent under pressure.

I have looked at it running, and it doesn't appear to be running down the pipe. If I disconnect it to have A proper look at the underside of the pipe do I need to take any precautions? Thanks for the reply.

apart from diesel on yer hands, no particular precautions. shouldnt be any major problem with air as it should self bleed if you take a feed pipe off. spill pipe the same.
might run lumpy for a few seconds on startup as air is purged out.

does it normally start ok? any leak in a diesel line normally results in lumpy running or longer to fire when turned over.

put your location on your usercp as someone may be local that can help.
