I just bought what I thought to be an immaculate 2001 TD4 with 40,000 miles on the clock. It really is very pretty, I bought it from a dealer via Autotrader. It had been supplied by Ripon Landrover and main dealer serviced. The guy selling it to me said it would be serviced before I took and it was - by a non-Landrover garage. When I had driven it from Leeds to Banbury all was not well with the gearbox, when in reverse on full lock it jumped out and then started to do the same in second - the box felt odd. As you can imagine I thought i had been sold a pup and the sawdust must have done its job. I took it to a specialist Landrover centre in Banbury and they talked about fault IRD VCD BBC ITV and the lot as possibly being faulty. However, the soon discovered the problem. The clown who serviced it had clearly dropped or lost the bolt for the fuel filter and tied it up with a cable tie which had worked loose causing the fuel filter unit to come adrift and foul with gearchange - simple - and thankfully cheap!!
