Hi men (and women) of knowledge!
Diesel 110 pick up
I'm experiencing some troubles with my fuel gauge. the reading was at 3/4 of a tank and over a couple of days it gradually went down to 1/2 a tank as i would have expected. Then I have to admit i started to think wow this 200tdi really is efficient (suspicious!), I was driving along the duel carriage way and suddenly i the fuel warning light came on and the gauge was reading halfway in the red! I put £30 squid in and watched the gauge, but it didn't adjust!?. I went over a speed bump and the gauge went up to 3/4 of a tank.....
>surely if the low reading was correct 30 squid wouldnt equate to 3/4 of a tank?
>There is a slight leak on the refueling hose, could this present a problem if the fuel gauge works on pressure? if theres a leak the tank would be at atmospheric pressure. Oh the hose is connected with a jubilee clip the hose is a female connection facing downwards onto the tank, is that standard or good practice? I'll look into the leak just wondered whether is could be linked? As a plumber I should be able to cope with that!
>The tank is new by the looks of it. It got some kind of nipple on the right hand side of the tank when looking ubnder the refueling side.
>tried tapping the actual gauge on the dash: seems to have no effect.
>speed bump incident seemed to jolt the rear end.
>swerving again today altered the reading from 1/2 a tank to half way in the red and light on
Please help or advise me where to start!
