morning lads , I have 2000 4.6 v8 thor engine petrol/lpg
my problem is that after having a full service on petrol side and service on lpg side my engine is playing up first thing in the morning when starting from cold its like a singer sewing machine till it go's over to gas ..this has been going on for some 3 weeks after filling petrol up to halfway at morrisons I suspect ****ty contaminated petrol ???? I have put a additive in tank to clean but no difference I am wondering if the fuel filter is knackered ???????????? can I change it and how ???????? as I think the filter is in the sealed tank ??? any advice would be most welcome or useful suggestions ??? apart from " sell it --set fire to it or scrap it "..both mechanics says everything else checks out so I assume that the main parts are ok as they all work on petrol/lpg , i.e. coils plug leads plugs maf sensor I have let petrol run down as far as I dare and will refill shortly ...please help im getting fed up every morning to coughing band spluttering ...cheers lads ,,mozz :crazy_driver:

It sounds like blocked injectors due to the fact you're on LPG, I use Bp ultimate to keep them clean as I'm on LPG aswell , you say you've put additive in the tank , I'd add some more . I've found reddex injector cleaner to work well. Give it a blast down the motorway with that in and I'd be hopeful itl solve it

thanks paul ive actually done that and no difference , so im still In a quandary but will let petrol run out then refill but not at morrisons and see how we go ,cheers

wammy ,cheers matey ,im sure there is one but ive been told that its in the tank wich is sealed unit ???????? will check with the main stealer and RAVE just thought someone on here might have had same problem and resolved it and give me the answer ,,,, hope your ok mate will ring u next week cheers wammy ....mozz

Yes filter on pump pickup but no separate one. Ok Mozz keep smiling. :):)

Mozz, try disconnecting the maf. I found 188 faults on mine. Took the plug off and no different. Just a thought.

Hi Mozz mine is similar in that starts on petrol ok goes to gas then back to petrol like a bag of nails suspect petrol injectors but after fiddling around think it is the adaptions so the garage that did the service didnt dick around with any of the settings I would start by resetting everything and see what happens sorry cant be more helpful

hi sandy , its all been re-trimmed and new filters on lpg side and full service on petrol side ,, its just every morning its huffin and spluttering for first 2 mins when starting on petrol ...any comments would be gratefull ,,,cheers lads

Hi lads , im still in same position , every morning **** on starting spluttering etc etc , tried everything you all suggested to no avail except the fuel pump ??? Does anyone no if theres a filter on the pump or is it a case of strip down clean and refit ?????????? Any help more than appreciated or might have to go to main stealer for diagnostic check but dont like their prices ... Cheers lads ,mozz

The other thing I had was in the wiring loom right on the connector that goes to the injector the insulation had worn away and it was shorting out worth a look

cheers sandy ,,, wheres the injectors ?????? its a thor engine 2000 model ...im no mechanic but can check that and are they easy to remove and clean and replace .?????????? I will also check the wiring ,, thanks matey hope your all well ,cheers mozz

water seaping into bore over night causing a misfire when first run in morning is possible:eek: ive had this happen on 2 p38s mozz, hope im wrong

Not sure where they are on the thor but they will be one each cylinder on the fuel rail sorry cant help more and picking up where wil was you could take the plugs out in the morning and see if there is any rust /water on them .

You say it runs rough on start up if you leave it on petrol does it ever run smooth or does it stay running rough? Also did it do this before you put it in to be serviced?
