My wife went to put deisel at the weekend and the key opened the lock. Key came out but the lock wont go back on and the key wont turn in the mech.

Any sensible advice or is it a new fuel cap i need

Also the front wipers work perfectly on normal speed and fast but if I activate the screen wash or put them on intermittant they stop anywhere they want. Whats the most likly cause of this

Thanks guys

Try a little bit of WD40 in the lock and around the mechanism inside the cap..let it soak a while and then try and turn it..also try turning from the inside with the key in the lock..i.e turn the locking part of the cap.
Possible cause of the wipers...maybe a faulty relay..not really sure but it would be worth checking before you do anything else.

you shouldn't be able to take the key out of the filler cap without turning it back to the locked position. it sounds like the barrel and lock are out of sync without each other. As tatooboo said, WD40 and a good wiggling might be the way to go.
as for the wipers, it might be the park contact in the motor body. only way to tell strip it down to find out. could also be the relay, try a search for RAVE CD.

Good Luck

Tried WD not working so ordered a new one, Not interested in series/defender/disco/rangie happy enough with the Freelander.
