So I have not long had my L322... Since buying it, I've rebuilt the air suspension compressor (fixing the air suspension inactive message) and I've given it a full service: engine, gearbox, transfer box and diffs.

While I was under it, I noticed what looked like an exhaust for a FBH coming from almost directly under where the battery would sit... The was plenty of plastic surrounding whatever is in there... The exhaust itself looked brand new (no soot) so I don't think it has ever run (if it is a FBH)...

Question is, did LR fit these and just delete the coding to run it for the lower spec models? I know the Vogue had a FBH as standard at this age. If the coding has just been switched to off, can it just be toggled on with the correct diagnostic gear? I've got an Autel with the Land Rover / Jaguar software which is brilliant for most things on the car, but I've never tried to do anything quite like this before... I wondered if anyone else has?

Did you get a separate remote with the car (shown below). It could be that the fuse has been taken out (Fuse 59) second to last blade fuse on the bottom row. The FBH should come on automatically when temp is below 6 degrees.

I will check the fuse. :) Good suggestion. I wonder if a new remote can be sourced...
 
So there was no fuse in the number 59 slot. I've refitted a 20amp fuse and will give the car a test later (fingers crossed it wasn't removed because of something too serious). It shouldn't be a problem getting it to automatically kick in (definitely below 6degrees)... I don't the the car has the remote function as standard (being an 03 HSE)... I'll have a poke around in the rear compartment as per the instructions in the feed you suggested. :)
 
If you start the car and stick your head in the wheel arch if the FBH is running you'll hear it. Sounds like a small jet engine that starts slow and switched to full bore after 3 minutes.
They can cause battery drain so some pull the fuse.
May have had the remote fitted as an option if your lucky.
If you can find a plug like the one below you should be able to retrofit with LR one or cheapo aftermarket one. Mine's been butchered to fit a cheapo chinese remote but should have 3 wires.

Iv been messing about with fbh for the last couple of weeks, as black says prob a battery drain so some one pulled the fuse.
 
You're retro fitting to a petrol though aren't you? so starting from scratch :D
Yep and I'm getting there, iv now got a non canbus board for my fbh and everything else I need I'm going to run it all up on the bench iv made a loom incase I want to use it instead of the cars own fbh connector inserting a fuse in 59 does make it live as it feeds the always positive plug to the fbh. My remote switched 12vokts is all working as this non canbus only needs a switched 12v to work. Iv decided against a timer for now. Am currently looking at how to run the hevac fan at the same time via the fsr and a DC to DC converter but let's see if everything else plumbed in and works 1st.
Its gonna warm up next week so looks like install time mid week fingers crossed

I can hear it go on, and my fob lights up accordingly when I switch it on/off that way, just doesn't seem to do anything. One day it cleared a few spots on the windscreen, but since it does absolutely nothing... It's a summer job that needs doing in winter by the looks of it

Any smoke or heat out of the exhaust?
 
After 15 mins running when I switch ignition on needle on the temp gauge is middle of the blue.
 
After putting a new fuse in, it didn't seem to do much... next morning I went out and the battery was so flat that even the remote locking wouldn't function... More investigation required. I've charged the battery and pulled the fuse and had no further issues.

Well at least you know where to start looking for your battery drain so take it as a positive.
