Just found Macro have thin veg oil at 77.5p a litre (£15.49 for 20l plastic tubs or £15.79 for 20l steel drums). I've used this same stuff before and it worked really well...

I put this stuff in the 90 a few weeks ago and it ran fine. Little thick so would need thinned down a bit but I would use it again

Yep

They usually carry 4 or 5 different types of veggie oil in the plastic 20L containers for between £16 and £18, and being a foodstuff it's VAT free:rolleyes:

Often wondered if one type of veggie oil was significantly better than another - think they usually stock soy, rape, corn and sunflower varieties

The one in the piccy we use for the younger horses over winter to get some extra calories into them!

Rape? No one mentioned that. Pervert

I likes that way of thinking :D

i get my oil 1200 ltrs at a time now wolf. Give me a shout if you want some. Much cheaper (even after filtering etc down to 1 micron) than buying it from the shop.

Mines currently running on chili and garlic scented extra virgin olive oil from a salad factory! :D

I know it has been asked before, but I can't be bothered to search. What do I need to do to run my fender on oil, just make sure I have some spare seals handy?

Ok, that took like 30 seconds. I apologise!

So I just need to change the fuel filter a couple of times and keep an eye on the rubber parts?

What percentages do you run?

If you have a 200/300 TDi then you can happily run 33%-75% veg oil depending on the ambient temperature without any changes whatsoever. I just change my fuel filters every 6K but I get them for less than a fiver so it's no hassle anyway. You can run more but I find it 100% reliable based on those percentages. The biggest hassle is getting it into the tank and found a large watering can is easiest..... Holds 10L and has a big spout. There are easier ways but the watering can cost £2 from Asda :)

Depends on time of year - when it's cold veggie oil gets thicker, so unless you want to get into tank heaters etc you have to dilute

Summer 100% veggie is usually fine in the UK

Winter 50/50 but know others do various mixtures and some cut with a little petrol too

Cool. Thanks.

I reckon I will go with mum to Costco (she has a card) and get some then. Though I guess I need to sort the fuel leak out first...

our l200, pajero and defender all run on the veggie. Just converting our stilo JTD to run on it too.

ive got a simple heated fuel filter on my 200tdi and it made a big difference. I run 100% on it now. But smokey for a few minutes then perfectly fine. I shall be twin tanking it eventually (before winter) to avoid any strain on the pump, and to increase its range.
