I own a 1998 two door discovery with a few problems.
the front passenger window works but on return to its closed position it makes a load bang as if something is catching.(any ideas).

also when i turn the steering wheel i get a whinning noise?

Hi danny,
The window problem could be some teeth missing on the regulator. Check when you do the window up if it jumps or if you can move it up and down by hand. You can also check by removing the door trim and plastic cover, then watch the window regulator whilst operating the window. Had the same problem on mine where it wouldn't go up all the way without a little help. Took it apart and 3 teeth were missing from the regulator. Picked one up from ebay for £15 inc. postage, fitted it and works a treat now.

thanks for the reply.
do you know how to remove the door trim? is it easy..i forgot to mention the drivers outer door handle broke and i have obtained a replacement from the breakers yard..have you done this job before...advice much apprecited.

Hi danny, removing the door trim is an easy job. If you send me your email address through the "Private Messages" I'll send you a copy of that page from the Haynes manual. I've not done the door handle but looking at the Haynes Bible is doesn't seem a bad job to do. I'll send you that page aswell. Good luck.

Thanks once again.

Iv got the haines manual and iv read it but you know what its like...im sure i will be ok.we have had our landrover for just under a year now ...best vehicle i have ever had.

Have you checked the fluid level in your power steering pump reservoir?

thanks everyone....all troubles have now been repaired ...it was just low steering fluid !
