Following on from yesterday when I got the three amigos, Hawkeye gave me an ABS error code to the effect of: Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor - inconsistent speed whilst driving - broken wire. I cleared the fault and drove a short distance today, moment I turned the three amigos came back.
Therefore this evening I jacked up the right side front wheel, tested the wheel for any play, removed the wheel, removed the disc brake, brake mounting and pads and took the sensor out to test.
Now, I could not feel any play in the wheel at all from top to bottom or side to side. However now with the wheel off and the brake out of the way by turning the hub a small amount it does feel a bit rough.. like a ratchet effect. The Disco is only jacked on one side at the moment and was in park so there is not much spinning movement yet to test, tomorrow I will get both front wheels up and stick in neutral to test more.
My question is, having no experience of having done this before. Is this 'ratchet feel' normal? Or is this is what is meant by roughness? I am guessing it should feel totally smooth?
The light failed before I could do anymore so plan to continue tomorrow morning.
