Hi All,

I'm considering swapping the seats in my commercial TD4 for something a bit more comfortable and leathery!

You can generally pick up half-decent leather front seats on Ebay for £100-200 a pair so I thought I'd just keep an eye out for a nice looking pair and grab them.

Question is.. Is there anything I need to consider before ripping out my seats? Wiring for seat belts etc.. Has anyone taken the seats out of theirs?

I may not be buying landrover seats so I expect to have to do a bit of fettling to get the new seats on the old mounts/rails or whatever. I just don't want to end up with a warning light permanently on because I knackered some wiring.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Spent half an hour earlier this afternoon getting ready to swap over to Freelander leather seats on my '99.
Dead easy to remove - four T50 bolts then disconnect the wiring. Mine have the heater pads and wiring etc. but apart from that seems to be just a case of connecting the standard yellow plug that I assume is for pretensioners/ air bag sensors etc.
The heater elements seem just to need a feed and earth, so even that should be easy enough to knock up.
So easy it hardly seems worthwhile modding something else to fit!
If you've got a cargo rack behind the seats, you may not even have to worry about picking up three door tilters - I found far more five door sets about.

There are pre - tensioners fitted to the seats. These will put the SRS light on if you don't have them connected to the to the Yellow SRS harness. Best bet is to find some leather Freelander seats.

get some later model fl1 seats, i fitted some to my 98 plate and it was a transformed.

The seatbelt pretensioners needed a tweak but it was easy to sort.
