Anyone been pulled up in an MOT due to Series front seat backs not being fixed in upright position? Mine fold flat and the guy failed it on MOT....funnily enough its got through for the last 25 years.....

Anyone made any mods? I got the screwdriver and self tappers out at the MOT bay for a temporary bodge - but don't think it will last!

Think you need to find either a new garage who know how to test an older vehicle or a better tester in the same garage!

It is not a new car so a lot of the stuff they should do does not qualify!

My 1982 series 3 has 3 studs on the bulkhead and the remains of old knackered leather straps on the backs of the seats, they've been there since new by the look of it, so it must have been a requirement for 29yrs at least...

have replaced the knackered straps with 3 new bits of leather from an old belt, and have attached them to the seat backs with placcy screw in trim rivets from halfords (didn't like the idea of using a nice sharp self tapper...have enough of the ex GF stabbing me in the back, don't want me landy to do it too)
