my front panel has a bit of corrosion damage to the sides were it fits to the wings, I can see lots of repair panels for door frames bulkheads etc but non for the front panel, are there any companies that make them? It's a 82 S3
How complex is the shape? If you get really stuck, it's surprising what you can make with just an angle grinder, hammers and pliers. Picture below is a work-in-progress view of a headlamp surround made without anything fancy.
Being pretty square shaped, most people just bend random steel to suit or use angle for the bottom lip. Good condition ones can be found on ebay too for not much.
I got one fitted recently. As suggested try YRM. It's an odd one cos it's not listed on many sites parts lists. They always rot along the bottom. If yours have gone at the sides that will affect the structural integrity of the front body cos it's all held rigid between the radiator panel and the bulkhead. If you're doing that job I'd consider updating the radiator cos it has to come out anyway.
Look up the welding wood on face book or seriously series forum.
Tony makes bottom sections for front rad panel / slam panel.
He will make a side piece for you his phone number is 07446063179 Crewe area based.
He was selling his parts the last to years at "Leafers at the pit".
The repair peices are on ebay both series 2 and 3 ,i recently repaired two old front panels i has lying about with some lengths of 2mm 90 degree steel i had lying about
If you havent done one before id think about getting a good rot free one as its not an easy job as the steel can be quite thin
