So - have searched and read up and tried all the ideas but still not solved this:

When bearing left and going over bumps, a metallic sounding rattle from the front o/s wheel.

Have changed anti-roll drop links, checked bushes, checked for AR bar movement, dangled wheels and shaken the living daylights out of it - nothing worn or loose. Checked all associated bolts are tight. Pry bar in all joints and no movement.

When it happens it sounds like the front wheel is about to drop off.

Anyone got ideas ????????

Is there any movement with the drive shaft where it locates into the IRD? The bearing there in the IRD can wear.

It is not likely to be this, but if it is it is serious and can cause gears in the IRD to slip and fracture the IRD casing, as well as wearing the CV. Worth checking.

Mine makes a similar rattling knock on the offside. I reckon it's the shock or top mount.

I once has a rattle on mine that turned out to be something as simple as a loose nut holding on the undertray, worth a wee check.

I know Delphi shock valves can develop a rattle on small fast bumps. Large gentle bumps don't seem to do it.

Thanks for the ideas, it was me that suggested the washing up liquid for squeeks / groans, this is a definite metallic 'bottle - hitting' type noise, strut may have to come off next.
