I went last month it was brutal.
First thing was to go down that steep slope towards the woods.
THen spent all day there, could'nt get back up the slope, could'nt go through deep water(v8 no snorckle) and could'nt get through the ruts at the other end.
After I towed this kamikaze disco out a boom hole he towed me through the water (engine off).
Great day out but brutal
:beer2:

It was a mess when we went, always is apparently, I'm now armed with special tracks and Detroit locker and trutac for next time I go.

My profile picture is from frickley you can see the mess.

Frickley would be a decent site if they didnt let the tanks on. Not even special tracks and lockers will get you thought them ruts :D

Agreed, there Wana lad in a yellow 90 that wa stuck.

Attached my strap and set off. Wouldn't budge.

Turned round and attached my winch just dragged me forwards.

The tractor put the chain of the tractor on to my towbar and I winched in again. Dragged me and the tractor forwards,

Eventually came out with the tractor pulling but took over half hour of pulling with the tractor.

There are a few things they could impove on , to start you need a 4x4 to get to the place, It woud be nice if the wife coud drive up in the car for an hour. You should be able to drive all around the site from one side to the other doing light off roading for the beginers and the like.and for limping home.
Its still a good day out.
Oh and thers no burger bar

Was going to try Rothwell on the 19th but Tong (Parkwood 4x4) have decided to open so I'm going there instead, much better site!

I've bin to tong and rothwell and frickley all are good, number 1 for me is rothwell the guys who run it are good people and everyone there on the days are more friendly, frickley was a mess each for there own defender for defender disco for disco jeep for jeep no One would help anyone if they weren't in the same car, as for tong the site is good, no freedom to explore and everyone when I was there was what you could discribe as stuck up,

You should go off roading to have fun at the end of the day and based on that it's rothwell every time,

There's kirton aswell that's the same traveling one a frickley for me.

Bloody great place, but sometimes has nutters with wrecks .. or used to, I haven't been for a couple of years now. Massive, lots of variation of terrain, no matter how many vehicles are there you can still have a great time, so long as the ****wits keep away!

New management a year or so ago, so maybe they've done something about it, if they have it's tops. Not great camping, but it was flat ....
